ATHERTON is a small and rural community in the San Mateo County. It lies southeast of Redwood City and 18 miles northwest of San Jose. As of the 2013 census, its population was 7,159.
Atherton has only 50 miles of roads and is heavily surrounded by lush live oaks, redwoods, cedars and pines. The city is part of the San Francisco Metropolitan Area.
